A poor diet can leave you feeling sluggish, groggy, and lethargic. You may even find your cravings for junk food are actually stronger, rather than satisfied, after indulging in salty or sweet snacks. With all the diet fads out there, it can be difficult to weed through the hype and find concrete information on what you should be eating, what you should be avoiding, and most importantly, why to do either.
1. Protein = Satisfaction
Protein is slow to digest in the stomach, which helps you to feel fuller longer, and will keep hunger at bay between meals. Because lean proteins have a low fat content, they are subsequently lower in calories, making them easy to incorporate into any meal. For example, throw some hard-boiled eggs and chopped chicken breast into a salad and it goes from rabbit food to a filling meal.
